NSC 491: Global Sustainability for a Shrinking Planet

What is a Really Really Free Market?

Basically it’s a place where campus and community can get together and hold a big garage sale without any money exchanged. It is like a big picnic where everyone brings something to share whether that is stuff, food, music, or a talent. Bring a chair, table, blanket, or all three and something to share!

What will happen?

  • meet members of your community
  • take a break studying for exams!
  • bring your old stuff from the attic or basement and give it away - give away your stuff instead of throwing it away when you leave MSU
  • eat free food (brought by your community members)
  • do some spring cleaning/ clean your dorm room before move-out
  • get your bike repaired
  • bring a dish to pass
  • listen to live music and poetry
  • bring a talent to perform
  • play kickball and other kids games
  • pick up some cool free stuff

  • How can YOU help? Attend the event on April 25th and bring as many others as you can. Feel free to organize and invite anyone that you wish. The best part about this event is that it is an open space for everyone to come together and share. No one is in charge and everyone is in charge. We are a collective group of individuals bringing community together to share with each other.

    WHY:

  • Because there is enough for everyone
  • Because sharing is more fulfilling than owning
  • Because free trade is a contradiction of terms
  • Because no one should be without food, shelter, entertainment, and community
  • Because life should be a picnic, but it only will be if we make it
